Introduction
The wineries of the Temecula Valley are the crown jewels of Southern California wineries. This is where almost all the wine tasting action is south of Santa Barbara. There are about 30 tasting rooms in a 3 mile radius so no long drives. Wineries and tasting rooms vary from spectacular to working wineries in a barn. Wines in this region tend to be light on the nose with soft bodies and finishes. Several wineries have excellent full service restaurants. Some such as South Coast have lodging. Nearby Temecula has a good variety of lodging and dining and makes a good base for exploring the region. The overall experience in the Temecula wine region is outstanding!

- Interior and ambiance - cozy and friendly tasting room in Temecula's Old Town. Tuscan interior design.
- Mt. Palomar
- Architecture - Italian exterior and interior. Very well done.
- Landscaping - outstanding with gardens, trees, waterfall, fountains, art, multiple and interesting picnic sites and outside tasting bar.
- Deli - no food from off-site so buy your lunch here and enjoy the many different picnic sites on the property.

- Interior ambiance - quaint family winery with an intimate tasting room.
Off-The-Beaten-Track Temecula Wineries
This region is one big loop in the valley or centered in Old Town with all of the wineries easily accessible and heavily visited.
Romantic Temecula Wineries
A special ambiance for long quiet conversations and enjoying love. Usually we have a secluded outdoor scene in mind.
- South Coast - stunning lodge-type dining area and bar along with deck and a modest view.
- Bella Vista - from the tasting room head up the hill to the pond, picnic tables, and great view.
- Mount Palomar - wonderful old Italian ambiance, great landscaping.
- Wilson Creek - it can get crowded on the weekends but the picnic tables near the creek are in a romantic location under the trees.
- Thornton - beautiful architecture and landscaping provide one of the best romantic settings in the area. There is also a romantic cafe and outdoor seating. Sparkling wine flights served at outdoor tables. Classy place.

Your tastes change frequently. Do wine ratings, gold medals, etc. really matter?
