2010 SF ZAP - the magical Zinfandel event of the year

Zinfandel Advocates and Producers is an organization that promotes California Zinfandels. They hold a variety of events around the US that draw large crowds of consumers and the wine trade. The following videos were taken at the annual ZAP Grand Tasting event at Fort Mason in San Francisco in January 2010. There were almost 300 wineries and we worked our asses off to shoot 47 presenting their Zinfandels.

Production Notes

This was the first time we tried to video the wineries presenting their wines at an event. It was "run and gun" shooting. We had little equipment, only a shotgun mic which faded the audio as the camera turned, the camcorder is handheld, the winery people didn't have a clue we would do this, Katya and Lidia were new at interviewing and started sorting out what works, and the conditions in the crowds was challenging in many ways. However, these videos may help tasters refine their list of wineries to visit.
