    • Explore the Livermore Valley wineries

    The Livermore Wine Region in Alameda County is east of the San Francisco Bay in a valley that is mostly full of houses and industry now. The wineries are thriving right on the doorstep of some subdivisions. Fortunately much of the remaining open land is locked up for agriculture and specifically vineyards. Almost all of the wineries in the Livermore Valley are small and family operated. There are a few historic wineries and some real adventures for the inquisitive wine quester. Romantic lodging is lacking in the region but it is less than an hour drive from San Francisco and 30 minutes from San Jose.
