Wine travelers often refer to a singular California wine country. Many times we hear people refer to the Napa Valley as California wine country. There are a couple dozen California wine regions that have concentrations of wineries and vineyards and they are located over a wide geographical area.
There are wineries and vineyards in other places in the state but those areas are tiny and mostly destinations for locals. We do not cover those due to the costs of gathering the data and maintaining it.
We do not yet cover several emerging wine regions, again due to cost and time. These regions include Lake County, San Benito County, and the northern Sierra Foothills counties of Nevada and Placer. We hope to include those in the near future if the other regions would quit growing so fast! This rapid growth eats all our resources.
We developed this site to make it easy to explore regions that are new to you. Each region is different and exciting. We have over 1,000 California wineries in our database which should give you enough wine travel adventure for a lifetime.
