Temecula Valley is California's lost wine region. It is far to the south of the other regions and a remaining holdout of agriculture in Southern California. When you see the sand hills and suburbia of the area you wonder how a wine region could exist here. Well, the Temecula Wine Region exists, is slowly growing, and it is a real treat! There is a great variety of tasting experiences in the compact Temecula Valley and more than enough wineries to explore. The main road, Rancho California, is a bit of a racetrack on the weekends and during the commute. The locals will slow down to the speed limit to let you in and out of the wineries but you better be quick about it. Several wineries have classy restaurants and cafes so be alert to some gourmet tasting adventures. Visitor services are in Temecula. Visit our Quester Network section for more winery information.
