The Napa Wine Region is more than just the Napa Valley but it is the valley that gets the world's attention. Every wine country experience is here and some of the world's top wines - and traffic. There are old-time winemakers with tiny tasting rooms to monumental architectural wonders of the world. While the marquee wineries of Highway 29 from Yountville to Saint Helena are among the most famous and exciting anywhere, there are also remote mountain wineries of incredible charm and quite romance. The Napa Valley hosts over 4 million visitors a year and they all seem to congregate along Highway 29. However, make the short trip over to Silverado Trail or to the north end of the valley around Calistoga and often the crowds disappear. Calistoga, famous for hot spring spas, and the city of Napa have most of the services with a few motels and restaurants in Saint Helena and Yountville. Less expensive and more available accommodations are available in Santa Rosa and Vallejo.
