Mendocino County means towering redwood forests, steep mountains, and quaint villages on rocky cliffs overlooking a turbulent ocean - right? That vision works, but it needs a little more detail. The Mendocino Wine Region is high wine questing adventure in stunning scenery and remote mountain roads. It is cooler in the summer and wetter in the winter than the other regions so for a change of weather it is a treat. (Wine questing in the rain is a suburb romantic, cozy, and intimate experience!) The wineries are generally small and intimate but the diversity is excellent from high-end sophistication to rustic barns. Visitor services are focused in Ukiah and Cloverdale with some services in Boonville and Hopland. The Mendocino wine country is also home to one of California's two winery tortoises. See our Quester Network section for more information.
